Palin to Speak at New Hope Graduation

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Sarah Palin, arguably one of the most well-known women in the Republican Party in the last several years, is scheduled to visit to Madison County next week.

Dr. David Copeland, Madison County Superintendent, confirms to WHNT News 19 Palin will speak at New Hope High School’s graduation ceremony.

The event is next Wednesday, May 21 at 8 p.m. at the Von Braun Center.  It is an event that requires tickets, and a limited number will be made available, Dr. Copeland said.

“What an honor for the students of New Hope High to hear such a prominent speaker as Mrs. Palin,” Dr. Copeland said.  The students got the news at school on Tuesday morning.

Palin is a former vice presidential candidate, the first Republican woman to get the party’s nomination.  She ran on the Republican ticket with Sen. John McCain in 2008.  She also served as governor of Alaska from 2006-2009.  She currently works as a political commentator and endorses various Republican candidates for state and federal office.

To maintain the integrity of New Hope’s graduation ceremony, attendance will be limited to the schools, businesses, and communities of New Hope and Owens Cross Roads that support the vision of the school and the accomplishments of the students and educators in the Madison County School District.

A limited number of tickets will be available to the community and the public on a first come, first-served basis, through Dr. Copeland’s office by email: [email protected].

WHNT News 19 reached out to the Alabama Republican Party on Tuesday morning for more insight.  The staff did not confirm the appearance, but said Chairman Bill Armistead spoke with Palin recently, who indicated she selects one high school each year to visit for the commencement address.  This year, she decided to come to Alabama.  The state party said staff members were reaching out to New Hope High School for more details.   More

Palin: Texas, it starts with you!

It's 2014 so that means mid-terms, primaries, and endorsements.  Earlier today, Gov. Sarah Palin reminded the fine people of Texas that it's time to replace the permanent political class with "good new candidates who will go to Washington not to line their own pockets, but to help restore our country".  Palin also reminded folks that early voting in the Lone Star State is now underway.

2014 is here. The choices are becoming clearer, and the battle lines are being drawn. The GOP Beltway crowd has convinced itself that the way to maintain or retake the majority is through compromise and capitulation on important issues like amnesty, Obamacare, and the ever-increasing federal debt. They think that by making deals with a deeply unpopular and divisive incumbent president on issues that Americans oppose, they’ll somehow endear themselves to voters.

Enough is enough. The permanent political class in D.C. won’t listen. So, let’s start putting our efforts behind good new candidates who will go to Washington not to line their own pockets, but to help restore our country. It’s time to put inspiration, ingenuity, and integrity over incumbency in the GOP.

Let’s start in Texas. The lines couldn’t be clearer. Katrina Pierson is an emerging leader and important voice for the future of the grassroots conservative movement. A feisty fighter for freedom, Katrina is taking on a powerful incumbent who has so lost touch with the people of his district that he’s not even bothering to spend much time in Texas anymore. It’s not only his district he’s lost touch with, but also the issues important to the voters there. He used his powerful position to oppose the movement to defund Obamacare, has voted to raise the debt ceiling, and has been an advocate for the NSA intrusion into our freedoms. When asked about Katrina’s primary challenge, he said, “these things happen.” Yes, they do. We all know what happens when we come together to support a good candidate like Katrina – the permanent political class loses and We the People win! We win by electing a fighter we can depend on like Katrina Pierson. Ted Cruz calls Katrina “an utterly fearless principled conservative.” He should know. Katrina was among the conservative grassroots warriors in Texas who worked tirelessly to elect Senator Cruz.

Early voting started yesterday, Texas. Get out now and vote for Katrina. Send a message to the GOP elites on behalf of Katrina, just like you did for Ted Cruz in 2012.

And while you are out there voting for Katrina, check the box for another good conservative – Greg Abbott for Governor of Texas. Like Katrina, Greg has overcome many personal obstacles and challenges, which have made him a believer in the power of liberty and the need to defend our freedoms from the overreach of an out-of-control federal government. If he is good enough for Ted Nugent, he is good enough for me!

Palin: Read My Lipstick: “We’ll Be Watching!”

Gov. Palin has penned a piece over at Breitbart  in which she artfully  makes the case as to why we are "Taxed Enough Already" and issues a warning to D.C. politicians on their votes for this compromised budget bill-- "We'll be watching."

No one can argue with the fact that Paul Ryan’s compromise budget bill raises taxes and increases spending. Show me one Republican who got elected on that platform. Spare America the Orwellian word games. If the government is taking money out of your pocket to fund its growing Big Brother operations, it’s a tax. Whether money is taken from you via your phone bill, your airline ticket, or your income, it’s a tax. If politicians can’t be honest about this, it’s time to go home. 

The TEA Party’s very acronym stands for “Taxed Enough Already.” We sent these politicians to Congress in an historic landslide election in 2010 with a mandate to stop the runaway spending train bankrupting our nation, not to wave to it from the station or – heaven forbid – increase its speed. And yet, here we are still pretending that there are no real world consequences to running up near trillion dollar deficits year after year with no end in sight.

So, where does this leave us? We can sit back and accept the increased spending "Compromised Plan" with increases in taxes and spending, or we can charge ahead to at least preserve the very modest Sequester cuts American workers already fought for. If we go with the first option, we simply kick the can down the road yet again and wait for the inevitable real world consequences of bankruptcy (see Detroit for an example of what’s in store). Or we can go with the second option and probably get clobbered by the media (so what's new?!).

The Political Establishment will no doubt tell us that a budget battle will distract us from the fight against Obamacare. But that excuse is just the latest variation in the Establishment’s old canard that they’re keeping their powder dry for the next big battle which never seems to materialize because they’re always too busy waving the white flag and following the path of least resistance until election day.

Enough is enough!

Here’s the deal, folks. The media will clobber us no matter what. We do not want more taxes. We want Congress to rein in spending and live within its means. (What's so radical about that?!) Americans have gotten quite an education recently in wasteful government spending as we’ve all seen how the federal government can blow a billion dollars on a website that doesn’t work. 

Do these members of Congress really think they can justify every tax dollar they spend and still demand more from hard working Americans by increasing our taxes?

2014 is just around the corner. If any member of Congress thinks raising taxes and increasing wasteful spending is a winning strategy to run on, then by all means they should vote for the Ryan budget. We’ll be watching.

Gov. The Billy Graham Library has announced that Gov. Sarah Palin will bring her "Good Tidings and Great Joy; Protecting the Heart of Christmas" book tour their Charlotte, NC location on December 6th.  The following is the press release from The Billy Graham Library:

 

Former governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, will be at the Billy Graham Library to sign copies of her new holiday book, Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 6. Her book revisits our traditional roots and the true meaning of Christmas. It is a call to action to readers to defend and openly celebrate the joys of their Christianity, and to say to one another, "Merry Christmas!"

In Good Tidings and Great Joy, Palin calls for bringing back the freedom to express the Christian values of the season. She asserts the importance of preserving Jesus Christ in Christmas—in public displays, school concerts, pageants and our expressions to one another—and laments the over-commercialization and homogenization of Christmas in today's society.

Thank you, thank you, Tyler, Texas! Great to be back to see many whom I'd met at the Oil Palace after my pro-American Energy speech. Really great to meet new friends today, too! Your gracious Southern welcome warms us right up. Special thanks to everyone who joined us today and provided fun, laughter, and new energy in the book line. And what a super staff at Sam’s Club! Now on to that other energy-producing sister state America loves – Oklahoma! (Alaskans of a certain age will remember an infamous bumper sticker about Texans and Okies which was popular when finishing construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline in the 70’s… but I promise it was never on my truck! “Happiness is a Texan flying south with an Okie under each arm.” Just in jest and we love you guys! Hundreds of East Texans lined up for hours Wednesday morning for their shot at meeting former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Palin was in Tyler Wednesday, a pit stop that is part of her nationwide tour promoting her new book.

Many people in line drove or even flew in for a chance to meet the former Alaskan governor.

One of those men was Michael Jenkins, who was first in line for the book-signing frenzy. Jenkins arrived just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

“This is my third time to see her,” Jenkins said. “The first time we made it over 20 hours before and we were not even close to the front of the line and I just wanted to make sure I got a spot in line.”

That meant braving low overnight temperatures in the 40s.

“I stayed in my car,” Jenkins said. “I had a blanket wrapped up right here, and then the rest of the time I was in my car. It was too cold.”

Marilyn Mcneely hit the road from Jefferson at 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

“I expected a long line this morning,” Mcneely said. “I almost jumped for joy when I saw I was number six.”

Number six in a line filled with hundreds, all waiting for a few brief seconds with the former governor. But it was all worth it for people like Shirley Greene, who is actually from Idaho.

“I had a trip planned to visit a friend in the Dallas area,” Green said. “So I rented a car and got up early this morning and drove down.”

Greene thinks of Palin as somewhat of a family friend.  Video & more

 

From Texas it was on to Edmond, OK where an evening signing was scheduled at the Mardel Christian & Education Supply.  Gov. Palin posted the following via Facebook:

O! K! Last night in Oklahoma, Kathy Young (see photo) shared her "The Best Peanut Butter Carb Bar EVER" recipe with me – sounded so good we almost ate the Christmas card it was written on! Thanks, Kathy, and congratulations on celebrating your Golden Wedding anniversary during the Christmas holiday at the same church in Edmond where you were married. As promised, I’ll make the Carb Bars when I get home. Friends, enjoy the tradition of sharing recipes as I did in “Good Tidings and Great Joy.” Or begin the tradition at our book events!

Thank you, Oklahoma, for supporting the "Good Tidings and Great Joy" message last night. So many inspiring people are committed to protect the heart of Christmas – and your efforts mean a world of difference in today's culture. Lots of conscientious parents and grandparents brought youngsters on a school night to share early Christmas cheer, testifying powerfully to sincere support. It was a joy to see so many happy faces sharing your Okie hospitality. UPDATE: Some of you have asked for that Peanut Butter Carb Bar Recipe that Kathy Young gave me last night. Here’s Kathy’s recipe:

The Best Carb Bar Recipe EVER by Kathy Young of Edmond, OK

1 c. Honey
1 c. Brown Sugar
1 c. Peanut Butter with nuts
4 c. Cereal – any kind (I love Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds)
Additional ingredients:
Raisins, Chocolate Chips

1) Microwave Honey, Brown Sugar, and Peanut Butter on high 3 minutes in large bowl stirring every minute

2) Add Cereal to warm mixture

3) May add Raisins and Chocolate Chips to warm mixture (Chocolate Chips will melt)

4) Spread mixture into 13x9 inch pan sprayed with cooking spray

5) Cool, slice (approx. 30 squares) and enjoy!

Gov. Palin also shared a photo album consisting of twelve wonderful photos from the Edmond event.  Once again, I'll point out that it's quite obvious that Gov. Palin really enjoys meeting her supporters.

KFOR TV published the following on Palin's book signing event:

EDMOND, Okla. – Former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin made an appearance in the Sooner State.

She’s hosted a signing event in Edmond for her new holiday book.

Her new novel is titled “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas.”

The signing was at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Mardel near 33rd St. and Boulevard.

The first 750 customers were guaranteed a spot in line but only if they had a wristband. Video here.

It was announced yesterday that Gov. Sarah Palin will be the closing speaker for Liberty University's Fall 2013 Fall Convocation series.  At present, Gov. Palin is on tour for her recently released  book, "Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas".  Liberty University provided the following press release:

 

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will be the featured speaker at Liberty University’s final Convocation of the Fall 2013 semester on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Palin will be introduced by President Jerry Falwell, Jr., who issued the following statement about her visit:

“While Governor Palin has visited Liberty's campus in the past, she has never appeared at a Liberty event. I am thrilled she will soon see why this university brings such hope to America. At Billy Graham's 95th birthday party she and I spoke of our mutual anticipation for her upcoming visit.”

Palin is a leading voice for American conservatism. She is the first woman and youngest person to be elected governor of Alaska and was the first female Republican vice presidential candidate in U.S. history. She is an internationally sought after speaker and has been a contributor to Fox News.

Palin: Day 3 of "Good Tidings and Great Joy" Book Tour 11/14/13

Sarah Palin spent another day greeting supporters and signing "Good Tidings and Great Joy" in Wausau, WI.  Perhaps the most interesting story of the day is that Walmart had 700 books on hand and it's being reported that the store sold out.  In fact, Breitbart has  confirmed that Sam's Club as well as Barnes and Noble sold their complete inventory too! Special note: Gov. Palin also shared this article on her Facebook page.

When former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin went to Wausau, Wisconsin on Thursday, the whole city sold out of her new book, Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas. Palin held a book signing at the local Walmart, where a line snaked around the gigantic store (see video below) for the sold out book. Breitbart News has confirmed the town's Sam's Club and Barnes & Noble also sold out all their copies of her new book as well yesterday.

At Walmart, Palin greeted a multitude of well-wishers and signed book after book. Just like her Bethlehem, PA stop, she stayed late because of an abundance of supporters. She may have stayed later if not for one very relevant detail. According to a Walmart official, the store ran out of books.

Walmart wasn't alone. The entire town of Wausau was cleaned out. A Harper Collins source told Breitbart News that along with Walmart, Wausau's Sam's Club and Barnes & Noble had also sold all of their copies. The stores have confirmed that all their books were sold. More

Gov. Palin posted an album of pictures 13 pictures from the Wausau signing to her Facebook page.  You'll immediately notice how engaged she is with her supporters.  You'll also notice that Palin rises to greet members of our nation's military and its veterans.  (See above photo.)

The Wisconsin Rapids Tribune published the following article and provided a short video:

RIB MOUNTAIN — Carrie Kolbeck traveled all the to way to Fairbanks, Alaska, four years ago just to get a chance to hear her political hero, Sarah Palin, speak.

So when the Wausau woman heard the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate was coming to town while on a book tour, Kolbeck immediately made plans for a second meeting.

“She just believes in standing up for religious freedom, and that is a big deal to us,” said Kolbeck, 37. “I’m glad for her strength and courage. She’s a very brave woman.”

Gov. Palin also shared her own video (complete with cheery Christmas music) of the many people that were waiting in a line that seemed to snake through every department of Wal-Mart.  The message that accompanied the video is as follows:

One observer noted, "877 people signed up for Obamacare in the first 6 weeks. Almost as many showed up to see Sarah Palin as signed up for Obamacare."

Governor Sarah Palin kicked off her "Good Tidings and Great Joy" book tour in Bethlehem, PA earlier this evening where well over 700 supporters bought books and was able to take their place in line to have them signed.  Lynn Olanoff of LehighValleyLive.com published the following:

Sarah Palin’s Bethlehem Township, Pa., book signing drew more than 700 people to the local Barnes & Noble tonight.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential running mate and Tea Party star greeted her fans warmly, asking children what grade they were in school and offering advice to one woman who was soon traveling to her home state of Alaska, where she served as governor.

Palin didn’t pose for pictures or sign any personal messages in her new book, “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas,” but that seemed to bother few who attended the two-hour event.

“She’s a doll,” said Williams Township resident Mary Hazuka, who came to the store at 6:30 this morning to secure No. 47 in line. Hazuka, who bought a total of four books, said she was pleasantly surprised to see Palin’s husband, Todd, beside her in the store.

“We didn’t know her husband was going to be here," Hazuka said. "That was a plus.” 

Palin specifically requested to start the tour for her Christmas book in the Bethlehem area, a local Barnes & Noble employee said last week. The store was selling Palin’s book today for 20 percent off the $22.99 list price.

“You are the very, very first recipients of our whole book tour,” Palin said to the initial crowd.

Shoppers were given the option of buying Palin’s book — which went on sale nationwide today — earlier in the day, obtaining a numbered wristband and then returning for the 6 p.m. signing. The store, located in Southmont Shopping Center on Freemansburg Avenue, opened an hour early today to accommodate the crowds.

Long line by 8 a.m.

Some eager book purchasers were already outside when the first store employees arrived at 6 a.m. By 8 a.m., there was a line outside stretching past the adjacent Pier 1 Imports.

One out-of-town visitor told Palin she woke up at 1:30 a.m. to come see her.

“Well, welcome to our world!” said Palin, who added that she’s constantly traveling at odd hours.

Palmer Township resident Taryn Gilbert also showed up about 6:30 this morning to secure No. 33 in line. Gilbert, who attended with her mother, Gina, said their family traveled to many of Palin’s Pennsylvania campaign stops in 2008.

“We were always in the front row. She said she remembered us,” said Taryn Gilbert, who along with her four siblings comprise the local group Sing for America. The family all wore red sweaters to Palin’s campaign stops in 2008, Gilbert said.

Palin was last in the Lehigh Valley in October 2008 for a campaign rally with running mate John McCain at Stabler Arena in Bethlehem.

Tonight, she wore her signature rimless glasses and a custom-made sweatshirt with an emblem stating, “It’s OK to wish me a Merry Christmas!” Palin’s new book — her third — advocates bringing back the religious spirit of Christmas.

Palin’s first book, “Going Rogue,” was a New York Times bestseller. Her new book was ranked No. 34 among Amazon’s bestsellers at 7 tonight.  More
