Sarah Palin knows the importance of winning the culture war and in a new book is taking on the subject of Christmas.
According to The Washington Post, “A Happy Holiday IS a Merry Christmas" is due to be released by HarperCollins in November.
A search on Amazon does not yield any results yet; however, as soon as a cover is released we'll be sure to share this information with our readers.
From The Washington Post:
NEW YORK — Sarah Palin has a new book coming, this time about Christmas.
The former Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska
governor has a deal with HarperCollins for “A Happy Holiday IS a Merry
Christmas,” scheduled for November. HarperCollins announced Monday that
the book will criticize the “over-commercialism” and “homogenization” of
Christmas and call for a renewed emphasis on the religious importance.
“Amidst the fragility of this politically correct era, it is imperative
that we stand up for our beliefs before the element of faith in a
glorious and traditional holiday like Christmas is marginalized and
ignored,” Palin said in a statement released through her publisher.
“This will be a fun, festive, thought provoking book, which will
encourage all to see what is possible when we unite in defense of our
faith and ignore the politically correct Scrooges who would rather take
Christ out of Christmas.” More
The Ledger updated their coverage of Palin's appearance at the Southeastern University Leadership Forum and has published the following:
Palin's Cry: Cling to Your God, Guns, Constitution
LAKELAND | Former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin was fired up about
God and country when she spoke Friday at Southeastern University in
Lakeland. And she was dressed for the part.
The 2008 Republican vice
presidential candidate visited the Sunshine State at the request of the
organizers of the school's seventh annual leadership forum. She was
quite a presence on the stage, in a lipstick-red suit and fierce high
heels.
Her passionate talk
was peppered with such vibrant cries as "Cling to your God, your guns,
your Constitution!" and pleas for the next generation to change the
country's moral fiber. "That will make our foundation crumble if we
choose to ignore it," she said.
Not one to tiptoe around sensitive topics, Palin got right to the point on reasons she said the country is in crisis.
"Today,
look around, and don't you wonder sometimes if, as a nation, we have
forgotten God altogether? This is a crucial question," she said.
Palin
said the school asked her to talk about hope and resilience. She said
she would but "not that Washington, D.C., ‘hopey-changey' blah, blah,
blah stuff, but real hope."
Mostly,
the 49-year-old hammered such topics as the corruption of Washington,
D.C. — "It's a hotbed of cronyism" — and federal spending — "The federal
government is bloated, corrupt and out-of-control."
The
Forum is a fundraising event for scholarships at Southeastern, and
sponsors pay for the speakers. Southeastern officials don't disclose how
much speakers are paid, but it was reported Palin received $75,000 in
May 2010 to speak at California State University, Stanislaus.
Palin said Friday she was
happy to visit a Christian school, and she encouraged students to go
forth and spread the word. She encouraged them to "infiltrate" the
nation. Study journalism, she said. Get into Hollywood and the sports
world.
"Get out there and influence culture," she said.
Palin closed her talk with a battle cry.
"The future of the country depends on what you do," she said. "God bless you."
After
the speech, Palin answered questions from Southeastern professor
Christina Gard, who was Miss Alaska in 2004. It was then Palin said
something that brought the strongest applause.
Asked
how she dealt with critics, Palin said it's important to know who you
are, and that's why she speaks out for God publicly in a country where
she said it's often frowned upon or against the law to talk about
religious beliefs.
"God deserves so much better than what we give him," she said. "What has happened when we can't say his name in public?"
Sarah Palin posted a link on her Facebook page leading to Bristol's Blog in order to encourage her readers to learn more about the plight of an American pastor in Iran. Saeed Abedini is a Christian who has been sentenced to prison for his faith.
A few weeks ago my mom tweeted about an American pastor named Saeed
Abedini being held and tortured by the radical Iranian regime. He’s been sentenced to eight years in Iran’s most brutal prison simply because of his Christian faith.
This
pastor and father has shown enormous courage, but now Iranians are
lying to him in prison — telling him that Americans have forgotten about
him.
Yesterday was Save Saeed day, and Christian and country
musicians across the U.S., including Toby Mac, Ricky Skaggs, Steven
Curtis Chapman, Mercy Me, and many others tweeted for him and signed a
petition for his freedom. (In fact, #SaveSaeed was trending on Twitter
yesterday! Let’s keep it up!) The American Center for Law and Justice
represents his family and is organizing a petition on his behalf.
Please consider signing and telling this American pastor that he will
never be forgotten.
Sarah Palin comments on the Army's recent decision to remove Christian symbols from a chapel in Afghanistan.
What are we succumbing to, America? The army
orders "the removal of Christian symbols from a chapel." I wonder what
they'll make of my son and all the other soldiers with their numerous
Christian symbols tattooed on their warrior bodies? What
say you, politicians, about America's finest protecting us in these war
zones who will NOT be "removing their Steeples, Crosses, Bible Verses,
etc." to adhere to this new nonsensical political correctness?
Palin then provided a link to the following article by Todd Starnes:
Army Removes Crosses, Steeple from Chapel
The U.S. military ordered soldiers to remove a cross and a steeple from
atop a chapel and to board up cross-shaped windows at a remote American
forward operating base in Afghanistan.
The removal of Christian symbols from the chapel at Forward Operating Base Orgun-E came after a solider complained — leading American Atheists president David Silverman to send a letter to the Pentagon. More
Sarah Palin reminds us of the sacrifices made by Americans in the name of freedom and offered the following message on January 21st to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today Americans honor the life and legacy of
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It's been 30 years since President Reagan
signed this holiday into law in 1983, followed by its celebration three
years later. We continue to look to Dr. King’s teachings which show us
that our efforts—though seemingly futile at times—really do matter, that
one person’s faith in something greater than self can lift all mankind,
and that character alone should be the means whereby a person is
measured, rather than the external things on which our society fixates.
This year marks 50 years since Martin Luther King stood before the
Lincoln Memorial to proclaim his dream and remind the world that 100
years had passed since President Lincoln signed the Emancipation
Proclamation. Now, 150 years after that historic signing, Americans
still stand with both these men, ever committed to the freedoms that
they worked to secure. They dedicated their lives for freedom, including
freedom from stifling, overbearing governments. We will not squander
what their efforts have wrought, we will not take for granted the blood
that has been shed, and we will not fail to do our part to help preserve
the freedoms that are uniquely American. In Dr. King’s own words, “Let
freedom ring!” So, to these freedoms we cling so that future generations
may know and love the America that those before us so sacrificially
gave.
I encourage you to take time to reflect on Dr. Martin
Luther King’s efforts to secure freedom and true equality and what those
efforts have added to our lives today.
Sarah Palin tweeted a few words of encouragement earlier this evening. Palin supporters can always count on her to offer inspiration at just the right time.
Overnight, Sarah Palin posted the following message of hope to her Facebook page:
Unspeakable evil slammed America in the beautiful little town
of Newtown, Connecticut, just days ago. No words can express the
collective shock and sorrow shared by Americans who know the murder of
innocent children is the most horrendous crime imaginable. The
Connecticut state motto, “Qui transtulit sustinet,” promises
that only God can sustain us. Though still insufficient and unfulfilling
for the grieving families of these beautiful babies in the Lord's arms
now, perhaps those words are all the inconsolable loved ones can hold on
to at this time. May God show His sustaining love to them right now.
Please Lord.
It may seem, especially after Friday, the world is spinning fast and
furious and out of control. Many political, economic, and societal
problems attempt to weigh down our spirit so heavily that some
despondently give up after being deceptively led to believe there is no
real hope for anything getting better. And despite 24-hour news cycles
with constant information flooding our eyes and ears with much white
noise, TV's talking heads really have nothing meaningful to offer.
So the world spins furiously, but there is a reason its literal and
figurative centrifugal force tightly holds us here together for such a
time as this. Until God loosens the tie that binds us to this temporal
earth, we are in it together, and we are expected to do our part to make
it better. So, now is the time to speak truth, however politically
incorrect some may deem it, and focus on what really matters so our
nation's spirit can be lifted as we unite in the cause for a better
world built on real hope. First, all truly is hopeless if your faith and
hope are put in any politician or media elite. That is because the
average person is more truthful and responsible than the average
politician or media elite.
Those who let themselves be terribly disappointed in political
leaders as they ignore real problems, aided along with a complicit media
bombarding us with irrelevant distractions in order to avoid facing the
reality of a fallen culture, should know those distractions are to hide
from a finger pointing to the main contributors to much of our problem.
To stop distracting would result in acknowledging the political and
media machine's starring roles in our failing society. So, as they too
often tear down those who try to do good, while elevating and
celebrating corrupt selfishness, they dumbly assume we don't know it is
they who significantly contribute to our upside down world today. We've
learned our lesson. Don't put your hope in Hollywood or Washington.
Instead, build resolve and seek truth more aggressively than ever at
such a time as this.
I only know one source of truth and real hope. I call out to this
hope with only childlike faith because I am so overwhelmed by the
miraculous answers to my prayers that the comforting, secure hope I
cling to is too inexplicable for a simpleminded person like me. Plus,
because I am not a perfect Christian – and have never met one – I dare
not judge others’ “Christian quotient,” and inarticulately explaining my
faith is too often interpreted wrongly, hence, my thankfulness in being
allowed via the Good Book to have a childlike faith that's good enough
for God. Further, I do not wish to force my beliefs down anyone's throat
– and simple faith does not do that. Though I'll share my faith
unapologetically, I beg fellow faith-filled fallible human beings to
quit pretending anyone's effective in forcing others to see the light;
please also quit pretending you are holier than thou. You are not. I am
not. We're merely fortunate enough to have been knocked to our knees at
some point in life and grabbed hold of the opportunity to accept
undeserved grace and forgiveness that allows a rebirth and its
accompanying peace that passeth all understanding. I cling to it not
because I am bitter, but because there is nothing better.
May this Christmas season give you a glimpse of the faith to which
millions cling to, and are willing to live and die to self for. As you
watch this video,
even if you've never prayed before, you can ask God for revelation to
what occurred 2000 years ago, what it means for today, and why we
celebrate the babe born in that Bethlehem manger over 2000 years ago.
And I offer this not because I have all the answers, but because many
ask me from where does my hope come? How do I hang on? What do I cling
to? Here is a glimpse of the foundation of my faith. May you be shown
through this short clip and song that the unanswered questions, the
horrible suffering, and the sacrifice of One birthed opportunity for new
life and real HOPE for all of us today.
Friends, please watch this,
and please don't lose hope. We mustn't lose hope! Look up! And put your
time and effort in working so hard for your family and loved ones
around you. Don't wait for a fallen world's politicians and pundits to
do it for you. You can have within yourself the ability and opportunity
to help make America strong again, and her people joyful again.
The following was posted to Sarah Palin's Facebook page on October 19th:
I've had the honor of working in the past with Rev. Franklin
Graham's "Samaritan's Purse," and a few years ago it was a special honor
to meet his wonderful father. Yesterday Rev. Billy Graham launched a
new ad campaign to encourage voters to elect good candidates who support
Judeo-Christian values. Please take a moment to visit his website at www.billygraham.org to print out and download material you can use as posters or flyers in your church bulletins. Let's help him spread the word.
With the release of "Our Sarah, Made in Alaska" set for September 25th, Sarah Palin gave a shoutout to her father, Chuck Heath, Sr., and her brother, Chuck Heath, Jr. by providing a Facebook link which details all of the scheduled stops for the book tour. Palin is a modest person and you may have already noticed that she did not even include the title of the book but instead, promotes her family.
From Palin's Facebook page:
A new book by my father and brother (Chuck Heath and Chuck Heath, Jr.)
will be out on September 25. The book chronicles our family's
experiences in Alaska and how the adventure of growing up in the Last
Frontier helped shape us. You can follow this link to see the schedule
for their upcoming book tour and media appearances.
For additional updates you can "like" the Facebook page of Chuck Heath, Jr. here.
