Looks like Governor Sarah Palin is headed to my home state of Kentucky to attend a fundraiser for the Headley-Whitney Museum in Lexington. Palin will be the special guest of Marylou Whitney and her husband John Hendrickson. The museum's annual event is traditionally held the day after the Kentucky Derby on the museum grounds. There is, of course, speculation as to whether Todd and Sarah will attend the 139th Run for the Roses on Saturday, May 4th.
From Kentucky.com:
Former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin will attend a
fundraiser Sunday for the Headley-Whitney Museum in Lexington.
Palin
and her husband, Todd Palin, will be guests of socialite and museum
supporter Marylou Whitney and her husband, John Hendrickson, at the
annual Brunch and Bibelots party.
The $150-a-seat event is held
the day after the Kentucky Derby each year. Museum director and curator
Amy Gundrum Greene said she doesn't know whether the Palins plan to
attend the Kentucky Derby.
The museum's board members and
supporters regularly invite celebrity guests, but Palin "is one of the
more high-profile ones," Greene said. More

It's truly not a coincidence that on the very day President Obama speaks at a Planned Parenthood fundraiser that you will find Governor Sarah Palin speaking at a dinner to people who advocate for life. God's perfect timing? I think so.
Governor Palin shared the following on her Facebook page prior to her speech:
There’s no such thing as a coincidence. Today
I’m looking forward to speaking at a pro-life women’s resource center in
Nevada. I intend again to remind women that we are strong enough and
capable enough to choose life and work together to create
a culture that empowers everyone to live to the fullest. How ironic
that on this same day President Obama will be headlining a gala event
for the highly controversial and repeatedly discredited organization
Planned Parenthood. He's the first sitting president to speak to them,
but then again he’s also the first president who is so radically
pro-abortion that as a state senator he refused three times to vote in
favor of legislation that would simply provide medical attention to
babies born alive from botched abortions. Considering the role Planned
Parenthood has played in looking the other way while the mass murdering
abortion doctor Gosnell butchered babies born alive from his horrific
infanticide procedures and abused his women patients, it’s perhaps not
surprising that this same president sees nothing wrong with allowing his
name to be so openly associated with this organization.
Please take a look at the following excerpt from Jonah Goldberg’s book
“Liberal Fascism” for information about the racist and eugenicist
origins of Planned Parenthood, then ask yourself again why in the world
our president would “bless” the cruel underlying efforts of an
organization like this. Do you want him to spend your family’s hard
earned tax dollars funding this culture of death? Surely there are
people of good conscience within Planned Parenthood and other
pro-abortion centers who will feel the imperative within themselves to
find other ways to help women in their time of need. There are so many
better answers than merely eliminating the most precious, promising
ingredient we have on earth – innocent human life. May efforts to cull
the defenseless and vulnerable not be “blessed,” instead may God bless
those who decide that respecting a culture of life in America is the
only way to get us out of the mess we’re in.

Palin then shared this link with her Facebook followers:
Margaret Sanger, whose American Birth
Control League became Planned Parenthood, was the founding mother of the
birth-control movement. She is today considered a liberal saint, a
founder of modern feminism, and one of the leading lights of the
Progressive pantheon. Gloria Feldt of Planned Parenthood proclaims, “I
stand by Margaret Sanger’s side,” leading “the organization that carries
on Sanger’s legacy.” Planned Parenthood’s first black president, Faye
Wattleton — Ms. magazine’s “Woman of the Year” in 1989 — said
that she was “proud” to be “walking in the footsteps of Margaret
Sanger.” Planned Parenthood gives out annual Maggie Awards to
individuals and organizations who advance Sanger’s cause. Recipients are
a Who’s Who of liberal icons, from the novelist John Irving to the
producers of NBC’s West Wing. What Sanger’s liberal admirers
are eager to downplay is that she was a thoroughgoing racist who
subscribed completely to the views of E. A. Ross and other
“raceologists.” Indeed, she made many of them seem tame.
Sanger was born into a poor family of eleven children in Corning, New
York, in 1879. In 1902 she received her degree as a registered nurse.
In 1911 she moved to New York City, where she fell in with the
transatlantic bohemian avant-garde of the burgeoning fascist moment.
“Our living-room,” she wrote in her autobiography, “became a gathering
place where liberals, anarchists, Socialists and I.W.W.’s could meet.” A
member of the Women’s Committee of the New York Socialist Party, she
participated in all the usual protests and demonstrations. In 1912 she
started writing what amounted to a sex-advice column for the New York Call, dubbed “What Every Girl Should Know.” The overriding theme of her columns was the importance of contraception. More
Someone attending the dinner was able to capture over two minutes of Palin's inspiring speech.
Additional photos of the event can be viewed here.
Breitbart also published an article on Palin's remarks in which author William Bigelow noted the following:
"In the battle for the culture of life, the dauntless, fearless Palin is a leading warrior."
Sarah Palin will appear with Governor Jan Brewer in Buckeye, Arizona as a featured speaker for the "Traveling Wall", a tribute to Vietnam Veterans. According to a Yahoo News article that was released earlier today, the Traveling Wall is an 80% replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. The wall will be on display May 9th-12th at Earl Edgar Recreational Facility and there is a schedule of events here.
Rand Paul (KY-R) has been named to Time's annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world and Sarah Palin penned the article associated with this honor. Readers may recall that Governor Palin was named to "Time's 100 Most Influential People" in 2009.
When the Tea Party movement wanted to send a message to the Senate in
2010, it elected a clear-sighted eye doctor from the Bluegrass State.
In a D.C. too often defined by the venal equivocations of a permanent
political class more interested in consolidating its own power than in
upholding the Constitution or defending the common good, Senator Rand
Paul is a voice of reason awakening the public to what must be done to
restore our prosperity and preserve the blessings of liberty for future
generations. His brand of libertarian-leaning conservatism attracts
young voters, and recently he inspired the nation with his Capraesque
filibuster demanding basic answers about our use of drones. I sent him
some caribou jerky from Alaska to help keep up his strength on the
Senate floor. There’s more where that came from for this bold Senator
with 20/20 vision willing to take a stand for liberty.
Another wonderful tribute to Margaret Thatcher as posted by Gov. Palin to her Facebook page:
A
friend sent me a recap of this mornings beautiful funeral service for
Margaret Thatcher. How fitting that they read from Ephesians 6:10-18
imploring us to put on “the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Certainly
Margaret Thatcher wore such armor in her many battles.
It is so very sad that in this sensitive time of needing to show
respect for humanity in general and for “the good guys” in particular
our White House did not even send an official envoy to her funeral. Salt
in the wound is learning that Senator Menendez, who was recently in the
news because of allegations of corruption and even possibly a
prostitution scandal, gutted the Senate Resolution honoring Mrs.
Thatcher’s world changing achievements. So very sad. Not only is this an
insult to our British allies, it’s an insult to women.
Margaret Thatcher admirably never styled herself as a woman leader. She
regarded herself as simply a leader, and got the job done regardless of
her sex. But the fact remains that she was the most important female
leader of the 20th century and will be remembered as one of the most
important leaders of all time. Where is the outrage from American
feminists at the obvious official snub of this iconic woman who was one
of our country’s most loyal allies? (I guess maybe the American
sisterhood is too busy at the moment trying to enforce the media
blackout of that Philadelphia mass-murderer’s trial for killing our
youngest sisters in the womb.)
Margaret Thatcher was the
epitome of everything feminists claim they support – a self-made woman
who rose to power on her own merits without the patronage of any man.
It’s time these liberal hypocrites showed her and women in general the
same respect conservatives have all along. It’s disgraceful that
America’s politicians snubbed her achievements, as Mrs. Thatcher helped
secure our own union while setting a mighty example for women around the
world. Like all great leaders, she belongs to the ages now, and I trust
that time will only burnish the Iron Lady’s shining legacy when all
these petty slights are long forgotten.
Please see the link below for why the latest
gun control bill should be filibustered and defeated. I can not and will
not support politicians who support any more limits on our Second
Amendment rights.
In honor of daughter Willow's graduation from Penrose Academy, Gov. Palin posted the following message to her Facebook page. I found this message of particular interest because I have a son who, at almost 16 years of age, is thinking of his future at this time. So here ya go, common sense advice from a mother of five.
Kids, Follow Your Dreams, But Be Practical To Be Employable
As my family travels to Arizona for Willow’s
graduation this week, allow me to be a proud mom in congratulating
Willow and her classmates at Penrose Academy on this achievement and also offer advice to young people that I always give in graduation speeches about following your dreams.
In planning for her future, Willow thought long and hard about what
kind of work would make her happy and provide her with a good income in
today’s economy. She’s artistic and has an interest in making people
feel and look their best, and as an entrepreneur with a strong work
ethic she desires to be her own boss as a small business owner. With all
that in mind, she decided to finish her high school requirements quite
early and enroll in an academy for hair and skin, which allowed her to
study abroad, visit the sets of major media productions, and work with
the best of the best in the industry. She’ll be graduated this week with
no debt and a great career ahead of her doing something she loves in a
recession-proof industry (everyone needs their hair cut after all!).
It’s crucially important today for young people to think about the big
picture when making education decisions. And the big picture is the goal
of self-reliant business opportunities based on work ethic and not
entitlements. One of the reasons I aggressively encouraged vocational
training opportunities as governor of Alaska is because they lead to
good paying jobs and happy careers. Young people should not be pressured
into assuming that a college degree is the only path to employment
today. It’s not. Some college degrees obviously lead to clear
professions, like those in the medical and engineering fields, but
that’s not the case with many of the liberal arts degrees young people
today gravitate toward either because they aren’t sure what they want to
do after college or because they’ve been led to believe that college
life is a sort of rite of passage for any career. That might have been
the case once, but the salary and career opportunities a liberal arts
education alone can get you have been dramatically limited these days.
It’s so sad to see young people holding expensive college diplomas that
come with no practical job opportunities.
I’m not discouraging a
student from getting a liberal arts degree if that is his or her dream.
I am always for following your dreams. How could I be against a liberal
arts education when I myself got a liberal arts degree in
journalism/communications from the University of Idaho? However, I knew
when I was graduated from high school what I wanted to do, so it wasn’t
as if I was embarking on an expensive voyage of self-discovery. And I’m
proud of the fact that I was able to pay for my degree myself and
graduate debt free. See how times have changed? Back then I was able to
work my way through college and pay as I went. I had to go to school
part-time some semesters in order to work and intern full-time, so it
took me five years instead of four to get my bachelor’s degree, for
which I've been roundly criticized by the liberal media (but how many of
those critics were shackled in debt after they perhaps gallivanted
around the globe with their daddy’s credit card in their backpack before
finally finishing college and snagging that gig at MSNBC?). It was
actually possible back in the ‘80s to graduate debt free. Nowadays it is
next to impossible unless you have a full scholarship. Students today
often graduate with the equivalent of a mortgage in college debt for a
degree they’re not even sure they can parlay into a job. As Daniel
Mitchell recently wrote, young people are buried in college debt “yet
they are having a hard time finding jobs because Obama’s policies are
stunting the economy’s performance. And even if they do find a job, the
research suggests they will get paid less. Not just today, but for the
foreseeable future.”
Follow your dreams, by all means. But
don’t be blind to the fact that your dreams might be achieved outside of
acquiring an outrageously expensive traditional college degree. Do not
be lulled into thinking that good jobs grow on trees or that the
government will somehow take care of you. The bottom line is – as my dad
always told me – find out what you love to do, then find out how to
make a living doing it. Learning a trade can do both. No one can take
those vo-tech real life skills away from you. They lead to independence,
satisfaction, and a paycheck. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Kudos to Willow and all Class of 2013 students for taking this lesson to
heart. We’re so proud of her!
- Sarah Palin
In a separate post, Palin honored Willow by posting an album of photos here.
Approximately 2 hours ago Gov. Sarah Palin posted the above captioned photo to her Facebook page. If you're unsure of the back-story, let me fill you in.
It's been brewing for a couple of days now and started with this MSNBC clip in which Melissa Harris-Perry tells us that we have to "break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents". Additionally, you should note the use of the word "collectivism" by Ms. Harris-Perry. Palin wanted to draw attention to this notion and tweeted the following:
Here is the video:
