With grateful hearts Americans recognize how sweet it is to live in a country where men and women offer to serve something greater than self. They choose to support and defend the Constitution to preserve our rich heritage, they deny themselves comfort to secure our well-being, and they sacrifice their personal freedom daily that we may enjoy liberty in perpetuity. “Thank you” cannot do justice to the gratitude we feel for our nation’s finest.
This year, more than ones prior, I am especially mindful of those who have served and those who gave their all. Contemplating the September 11th terrorist attack in Benghazi, our government’s targeting of conservative patriots, snooping into reporters’ personal communications records, the usurping of Second Amendment rights – how can one not notice the disregard for our Constitution? Our military men and women risk their lives to uphold our rights. They deserve better than to have their sacrifice trampled on by people who pretend to have heard nothing, seen nothing, and therefore can say nothing about abusing their power over We the People. Americans deserve better. Certainly our military veterans’ honor deserves better. (By the way, pleading the Fifth while showing no regard for the First is as bold an exercise in adding insult to injury as I have ever seen.)
It is time to declare, “Enough is enough.” It’s time to halt the fundamental transformation of the country our soldiers have given all to preserve.
Traditionally Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer, replete with family outings, barbecues, and parades. As much as we enjoy these wholesome American pastimes, this observance represents so much more. For the love of all who have ever worn the uniform, as a memorial to the service rendered, and in the spirit of those who paid the price we can never repay, may we mark this day by committing ourselves to the fundamental restoration of the greatest country on the face of the earth.
Happy Memorial Day. We will never forget.

I am weeping for for my country today. It used to be that journalism was a profession of honor. It was a career for seekers of truth; people with curiosity and writing skills who wanted to provide the "who, what, when, where, and why" of what happened in a particular situation. Providing just the facts allowed the reader to form his/her own opinion on the matter at hand. Sadly, that seems to no longer be the case as is evidenced here. Earlier today, The Washington Post posted the following tweet regarding the hearings into what happened in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012.
In case you're having a hard time reading the tweet from the above picture, let me help you out:
Who's tweeting about Benghazi? Rich, middle-aged men and Chick-fil-A lovers http://wapo.st/18YFgKP
Yes, you're reading that correctly and yes, the "Twitter voice" of the Washington Post has stooped to mocking Americans who are deeply concerned about what transpired in Benghazi that fateful day when four American lives were lost.
In response to the tweet from the Washington Post, I replied as follows:
My tweet:
@washingtonpost Our ancestors & those that currently serve shed blood & DIE for a free press. Your job is seeking #truth . How dare you!
Posted to Palin's Facebook page in response to the above:
I don't know that I can pinpoint exactly when journalism died but without a doubt, she's dead and gone.Is there any wonder why distrust of arrogant, out-of-touch media is at an all-time high? During today’s Benghazi hearings, the Washington Post actually tweeted: “Who's tweeting about Benghazi? Rich, middle-aged men and Chick-fil-A lovers.” This would be the same Washington Post that broke the story on Watergate. Now they just mock concerned Americans who want answers to why four brave Americans died, including two distinguished vets. And the Obama administration asks, “What does it matter?”

Sarah Palin will appear with Governor Jan Brewer in Buckeye, Arizona as a featured speaker for the "Traveling Wall", a tribute to Vietnam Veterans. According to a Yahoo News article that was released earlier today, the Traveling Wall is an 80% replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. The wall will be on display May 9th-12th at Earl Edgar Recreational Facility and there is a schedule of events here.

Sarah Palin took to her Twitter and Facebook accounts yesterday to "fact check" and provide commentary on President Obama's State of the Union address. The graphic at the bottom is her summary of important topics that were seemingly too unimportant for President Obama to touch upon. Some fine examples of her responses (tweets) to President Obama's SOTU statements are here, here, here, and here. Early on, Palin introduced hash tag #sotUGottaBKiddingMe here. This is pure Sarah Palin. She's unleashed, unshackled, and on a mission to fight for her country. I love it!
From Palin's Facebook page:
Here's a telling reminder of what wasn't said tonight. What Obama DIDN'T say reflects his values & priorities as much as what he did.

Sarah Palin lets her supporters know how they can help the families of slain heroes Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield.
From Palin's Facebook page:
Palin then shared a link to Bristol's Blog which provides additional information on the organizations handling the donations. It was a beautiful memorial service for Chris Kyle at Cowboys Stadium this afternoon. What a celebration of a great life! All in all, is there a finer human being who has crossed the 50-yard line star in Texas than Chris Kyle? Please click on the following link for information on how we can help out the families of Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield. As patriotic Americans, this is a tangible way to show appreciation and support for good people. On a personal note, I thank you who've sent birthday greetings today, and it would be awesome if you'd join me in supporting the families of these heroes by helping them out!

So many of us were deeply saddened to hear of the tragic and untimely death of American hero Chris Kyle. Words seem inadequate at times such as these. How do you thank someone who has willingly served and placed his life on the line in order to preserve this country's way of life, her Constitution and someone who, until his last moment, was trying to make the difference in the life of a fellow soldier? My deepest sympathies and prayers are with the Kyle family.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and many friends of former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle tonight. Todd and I first met Chris in Pella, Iowa, when he helped out with security for the premiere of the film “The Undefeated.” And later we became friends with Chris when he was on “Stars Earn Stripes” with Todd. Chris was a wonderful man, a good friend, and a true American hero who loved our country and served honorably. He was loved and admired by so many, and he will never be forgotten.

Americans will never forget those who died on this day of “infamy” at Pearl Harbor 71 years ago, and we will never forget those who served in World War II and those who continue to serve in war zones today. We are thinking of our vets on this day, and we are thankful for them every day. Their sacrifices for America won’t be taken for granted.

UPDATE: Sarah Palin posted the following message about "Stars Earn Stripes" to her Facebook page:
"Stars Earns Stripes" is honoring our veterans and first responders who are fighting to protect the good guys every day! Todd was privileged to work with an amazing team of production experts, competitors, and patriots in this absolutely kick-butt show that airs after the Olympics. It will blow you away as you witness what our troops and first responders go through.
I don't know if I've ever met such a genuine, dedicated, and hardcore self-disciplined group of "stars" and operatives. This show can change your life if you understand the discipline and dedication our troops and first responders go through in order to bring honor to this great nation and then apply that same courage and discipline to your own life.
"Stars Earn Stripes"...wimps need not apply! :)
Todd Palin will be part of "Stars Earn Stripes". a reality television show where stars will compete to earn cash prizes on behalf of a military, veterans or first-responder charity. "Stars Earn Stripes" will premiere on Monday, August 13th at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
From the NBC website:
Hosted by General Wesley Clark (retired) and Samantha Harris, "Stars Earn Stripes" is an action-packed competition show that pays homage to the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces and our first-responder services. The star-studded cast includes four-time undefeated world boxing champion Laila Ali, actor Dean Cain ("Out of Time," Five Days of War"), actor and former National Football League player Terry Crews ("The Expendables 2," "The Newsroom"), multi-platinum recording artist, actor, producer and television personality Nick Lachey (NBC's "The Sing-Off"), Alaska businessman and four-time Iron Dog snowmobile race champion Todd Palin, "The Biggest Loser" trainer Dolvett Quince, Olympic gold medalist Picabo Street, and WWE Diva, Eve Torres.
The eight celebrities will gather at a remote training facility, where they will be challenged to execute complicated missions inspired by real military exercises. From helicopter drops into water to long-range weapons fire, the contestants will be tested physically, mentally and emotionally. Each will be paired with a special operative from a military branch or one of our first-responder forces, including former U.S. Army Delta Force and Green Berets, U.S. Navy SEALS, U.S. Marines and police officers, who train alongside their partners and compete in the missions with them. Always ahead of the curve, Palin reminds of us of the importance of Alaska's missile defense system to our national security. As former commander-in-chief of the Alaska's National Guard, Palin is intimately aquainted with their important role in defending this country.
Posted to Sarah Palin's Facebook page moments ago:
On the campaign trail four years ago I talked about Alaska's strategic location on the globe, the potential for future conflicts over arctic transportation lanes and resources, and the crucial need to keep our eye on Putin's activities. Later I spoke out against Obama's egregious decision to cut back Alaska's missile defense systems. Please take a look at this article about Russia's arctic war game exercises earlier this month. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who was paying attention four years ago. Maybe now we should ask the President if this is what "more flexibility" means.
Palin then provided a link to "The Bear at the Door" published by The Washington Free Beacon:
Russian strategic nuclear bombers threatened U.S. airspace near Alaska earlier this month and F-15 jets responded by intercepting the aircraft taking part in large-scale arctic war games, according to defense officials.
The Russian war games began the same day President Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a frosty summit meeting in Mexico June 18.
U.S. officials said the arctic exercises over the Russian Far East and Pacific appeared to be a further sign of Russia’s hardening posture toward the United States.
The Obama administration made no protest of the bomber intrusions, according to the officials, in line with its conciliatory “reset” policy of seeking warmer ties with Moscow.
About 30 strategic nuclear bombers and support aircraft took part in the war games that continued through June 25. The aircraft included Tu-95MS Bear H and Tu-160 Blackjack nuclear-capable bombers, along with Il-76 refueling tankers, A-50 airborne warning and control aircraft, and Su-27 and MiG-31 jet fighters. Some 200 troops also took part in the Russian Strategic Aviation forces exercise.
A spokesman for the joint U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense command in Colorado Springs, which monitors air defense intrusions, had no immediate comment. A Pentagon spokesman declined to comment.
U.S. and Canadian F-15 and F-16 jets were involved in the intercepts that took place near the Air Identification Zone surrounding Alaskan airspace over the northern Pacific. More
